Great things begin with hard work. This is true of CRASH1. Our auto body shop was established in 1984, after our owner, Bill Wynkoop, purchased an existing collision service center and created the auto body shop our customers know and love today.
After establishing diligent work skills on his family farm and his time in the military, Bill redeveloped an interest in the automotive world and soon after, he started his career in collision repair in southern Maryland. Over the years, Bill received promotions and experience which ultimately led him to Rockford, Illinois where he opened CRASH1.
Today our team enjoys helping our customers with their auto body and collision repair needs. At CRASH1, we take pride in providing honest and ethical work. Our team is dedicated to doing what is right and morally acceptable. Quality work and excellent customer service are of the utmost important to us.

MEET THE OWNER
Bill Wynkoop, owner of CRASH1, has had a special affinity for cars and the automotive industry from a young age. His fascination with cars grew with his first vehicle, an old Chevy, but his pride and joy was his new 1970 Chevelle SS.
After high school, Bill served in the Navy for four years, and during this time, he worked in an auto body shop part time at $2.25 per hour. Bill decided to start his career in the automotive industry with a full time position when he finished serving in the Navy.
Eventually, Bill landed an assistant manager position at a large Ford Dealer’s body shop, after a series of promotions and different experiences working at a couple of auto body shops. Bill purchased an existing collision service center for his own in April 1984. This service center has since grown into the Crash1 we know and love today.
